Tony Jones, Executive Director, Metropolitan Contractor Improvement Partnership
Tony Jones has been the executive director of MCIP since 2008. Tony has been involved in small business development for the last 15 years in the Portland, Oregon region. He ran a contractor development and training program through the Housing Development Center, conducted business lending with Craft 3 (Formerly Shorebank Enterprise Cascadia) and has been the director of MCIP for four years. His prior experience includes construction supply sales and real estate development. Tony has built relationships with numerous agencies and small businesses throughout the region. Tony holds a bachelor’s in political science from Rutgers University and a master’s in urban planning from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Chris Cross, Contractor Development Manager, Metropolitan Contractor Improvement Partnership
Chris Cross has a degree in architecture from MIT. He has over 20 years of experience running his own residential / solar construction business in Massachusetts. He moved to Portland in 1998 where he has managed the development and construction of 9 projects totaling 88 units of low income housing, managed the Deconstruction Program at the Rebuilding Center for 4 years and estimated and managed over $15 million in Portland commercial tile sales. Chris joined MCIP this year and provides contractor support services including workshops on plan reading, estimating, sales and marketing and general business management, as well as one on one advice and support services.
Leesha Posey, Program Coordinator, Metropolitan Contractor Improvement Partnership
Whether it’s finishing payroll, training staff, or finding the perfect purse to match that new pair of shoes, Leesha Posey makes it happen. Leesha handles the day-to-day operations at Metropolitan Contractor Improvement Partnership where she provides system administration, data compilation and office management. She is responsible for providing support and education to the organization’s staff, members, and contractors. Recently, Leesha’s role has expanded to include records management services for MCIP clients in need of back office support. She’s also helped run her family’s business for the past ten years and spent time as a public school teacher on the East Coast. Leesha is a wiz at new technologies and has mastered and trained others on accounting, office and creative software. She earned a bachelor’s in communications from Oakwood University in Alabama and a master’s in education from Trinity University in Washington, DC. On top of that, Leesha is the queen of the road trip who lives to drive to exciting locales all over the country. Her traveling bug has also taken her to Japan and the Caribbean.
